You have to consider the original image, the original film, the enlargement or the scan as a single event. Digital software is at its best when interpreting a properly engineered original. When you put in the work pre exposure everything else is so easy. This scan holds up beautifully on a Sony 65' 4k panel so I'm good. The scanner comes with a CD with the driver and scanning software which I loaded on my iMac running OS 10.14.6 Mojave on my 21.5' late 2015 computer. I can use VueScan but it doesn't include the 'Digital ICE' that the Epson software gives you which is a deal breaker for me. You can load up to 4 35mm slides and it takes about 8 minutes to scan all 4 at the dpi and size I have chosen but you have to be there in front of the computer for the entire 8 minutes or else it will only scan the first slide and wait for you to move the cursor before it will start scanning the second slide.

You did say that you installed the driver available on Epson's site but Epson America says that, 'The latest Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7 driver for your Epson product is available only via Apple's Software Update.', and, in this instance, I'd take them at their word.I just got the Perfection V600 and it works quite well compared to my other scanners but the supplied software is annoying.

I apologise for belabouring the obvious, but you have installed the latest Epson drivers, haven't you? I mean the recent Apple update Epson Printer Drivers v2.9 OS X. But, of course, if you synch your laptop with your desktop, then all bets are off. If using a different account and/or the laptop satisfies this condition, then the problem lies elsewhere. The point of using a new user account - which is brand new with default settings - is to make sure that none of the old, incompatible, or corrupt prefs and caches in the user domain are causing the problem. Tried the laptop with 10.6.8 and ended up with the same result I did try using a different user account and got the same behavior.
